Forward Program
These courses will be offered with a Course Leader where you have the benefit of
the help and support of the Course Leader and the opportunity to make contact
with other course participants via the Discussion Forum. Courses are opened
for enrolment 2 months before the starting date.
This information is accurate as of now but is subject to change. At any time you
can check the information by going to
www.u3aonline.org.au and clicking on Courses in the left hand panel and then
on “Looking Ahead” from the drop down list.

courses are programmed in accordance with the availability of the Course

Please note that the first week for all courses with a Course Leader is set
aside for “housekeeping” and getting everyone set and ready to start the course
proper when the first unit is released in the second week.
At
the end of the final unit you continue to have access to the course notes and
the discussion forum for a further five weeks.
Of
course, the entire portfolio of courses is also available in the self-paced
mode. You can enrol at any time and have access to the course for twelve months
so that you can proceed through the units as your leisure.
To
enrol in any of these courses:

Go to
www.u3aonline.org.au

Click on the Login tab at the top of the screen

Enter your Username and Password and click login
-
Click on Enrol in the left hand panel
-
Scroll down until you find the course you are interested in and click on Enrol
to the right of the course name --- do not click on the course name.

Follow the prompts through the payment options.

Enrolment is effected when payment is processed
Please note:
The
number of enrolments accepted in our writing courses is limited due to the
higher level of required activity between participants.
Course upgrade:
-
Popular course “Introduction to Western Philosophy” has recently had a major
upgrade.
-
Recent data obtained from the Spitzer Space Telescope has changed some of our
understanding of the nature of our Milky Way Galaxy. As a result “Astronomy”
has been updated to reflect the new information.
-
The “Genealogy Online” course re-write is now complete and the new course is
included in the program schedule.
-
“Religions of the World” will be upgraded prior to it being offered in 2009.
New
courses currently under development include:
-
New course, “Human Biology” is complete and
included in the course program.
-
“China in Transition: Mao to Now” is 90%
complete and should be ready for inclusion in the program in early 2009.
-
“Left, Right or Centre? A very brief
Introduction to Political Ideologies” – course writing is 50% complete and
should be ready for offer early in 2009.
-
“Australian History” – (two parts
pre-federation and post-federation). Writing of the first three units are
complete.
-
Cate Russell has written a new course
“Unleashing your Creative Spirit.” Once the web process is complete, it will
be ready for inclusion in the program schedule.

Betsy Jackes, the Course Leader for “Botany for Knowledge and Enjoyment” is
looking at writing a new course called “Australian Flora.” This is still in
the very early stages.
We
are always looking for new courses for U3A Online, so if you have an interest
please let us know and, in particular, if you are interested in writing a course
we would like to hear from you.
We
are also keen to find new course leaders so that we have backup for our current
course leaders. If you are interested please let us know. We encourage you to
become involved.
