The group initially met regularly with attendance varying from 15 to 6 of us. In that time we had a presentation made to us by a local family history expert and made a trip to the Ipswich Family History Centre at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In both instances we learned a great deal about how to research our family history and where to look for information. We subscribed to the U3A On-Line Genealogy Course and were also helped by Leslie Stringer, the Chairman of the East Suffolk U3A, who produced course notes for the group he convenes and which he kindly made available to us.
As the group progressed it became evident that as we are all at different stages in our researches we were not benefiting so much from our regular meetings. On that basis we agreed to suspend the regular meetings and to help each other out on a one to one basis communicating problems and answers by email. I would like to thank all of the members of the group who helped to make our first year a success and for sharing their experiences and knowledge with us all.
