Again it will be a very light-hearted competition open to all Blackbourne U3A members, with the entries to be exhibited at the October Wine and Cheese.

Once again this will be a competition open to all Blackbourne U3A members, with the entries to be exhibited at the October Wine and Cheese.  The standard in 2008 was high, so lets see if we can improve this even more in 2009.

RULES FOR THE COMPETITION

There are 3 categories:

1. Water: Sea, river, droplets, moving, frozen (ice), lakes, flowing or still, rain, in fact water in any of its forms.

2. Mood: A still dreamy scene, angry sky, grumpy old man, crying child, happy couple, anything that conveys any type of mood.

3. Open: Any subject of your choice.

Any current member of Blackbourne U3A may enter and must have taken the photographs personally.   Members may submit up to 3 entries, one only in each category.

Entries should be prints, minimum size 7 by 5 inches, maximum size A4; they should be unmounted.  Entries not conforming to these sizes may be disqualified.

On the reverse of each entry must be (hint - use a sticky-backed mailing label):
Competition Category and Title (given by entrant):
Location (if not obvious from the title):
Date taken (and time if relevant):
Entrant's Name:

Photographs must have been taken since the announcement of the competition, which was on 1st December 2008.

Digital and conventional print work will not be separated. Digital entries may be cropped, have red-eye eliminated and be colour corrected, but no excessive computer manipulation is permissible. Keep the final image true to the original shot.

Closing date is 5th October 2009 (the Monday lecture).

Prints may be delivered by hand at the September or October Monday lecture. Alternatively, they may be sent before the closing date in a sealed envelope, supported by a card insert to protect the photographs, to:

An independent judge will be appointed; judging will take place between 6th October and 16th October and as many entries as possible will be displayed at the Groups Wine and Cheese event on the 19th. Prizes will be awarded for the winner in each category.

Please note that entries should be collected personally after the Wine and Cheese event, or from the notice-board table at subsequent lectures.
